As Jesus travels by the Galilee shore, he calls his disciples to follow Him. "Come and Follow me". As I think about my call to the ministry, I realize that we all have a call. We are called to follow even when we are leaders, we are still followers. Each of us follow in the footsteps of someone or of many that have influenced or affected our life. It might be our parents or relative, it may be a teacher or Sunday school leader, it might be a friend or a pastor.
The person in my life that I believe I followed more than any other is my mother. She was one that loved everyone and no one was an enemy. My mother didn't have a lot of material wealth but she gave volumes of herself to others. She gave all she had and even more.
When Jesus asked the disciples to follow Him, it wasn't done in a prideful way but in a loving way. Follow me and I will show you a love that you will never receive from anyone on this earth. Follow me and I will give you eternal treasures that you have no understanding how great they are.
We decide who to follow and we really only have 2 chooses: We can follow Jesus or we will be following Satan. There is no in between. Someone once told me that you have to decide on who to follow and what side of the fence you are on. Satan is on one side and Christ is on the other...and there is no sitting on the fence because Satan owns the fence.
Who will you decide to follow?
